Hospitalist (MD/DO)
Position Overview Seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Internal Medicine or Family Medicine physician to join an established hospitalist program. This role offers a structured block schedule, strong specialist support, and a collaborative inpatient care environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive inpatient care including admissions, daily rounding, and discharge planning
- Manage a broad range of acute medical conditions for adult patients
- Coordinate care with specialists, nursing staff, case management, and primary care providers
- Respond to rapid responses and participate in code coverage as assigned
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the EMR
- Participate in quality improvement, utilization review, and care standardization initiatives
Qualifications
- MD or DO from an accredited medical school
- Completion of an ACGME-accredited Internal Medicine or Family Medicine residency
- Board certified or board eligible (ABIM or ABFM)
- Active, unrestricted state medical license and DEA registration
- Prior hospitalist experience preferred but not required; new graduates welcome
Schedule and Practice Details
- 7-on/7-off block schedule with day shifts
- Average daily census of 14 to 18 patients
- Closed ICU with intensivist coverage
- Dedicated nocturnist team covering overnight admissions
- No procedures required
